Everyone loves appreciation, everyone wants their work to be loved (not just liked), maybe even obsessed over. All this is not to inflate your ego. A good creator would use all this as fuel to push himself higher and keep improving. The words that I get most for my work are, "i love how you are able to keep it so raw", other things people like about my pictures are the framing and composition. While I am a completely self-taught photographer, learning from my own photographs, sub-consciously i must admit that Peter Lindbergh has had such a major impact on my imagery. More than his imagery, it is his view on photography and women that has had such a large impact on me, and maybe on my work too.
If photographers are responsible for creating or reflecting an image of women in society, then, I must say, there is only one way for the future, and this is to define women as strong and independent. This should be the responsibility of photographers today: to free women, and finally everyone, from the terror of youth and perfection.
Nicole Kidman by Peter Lindbergh
To free the women, and everyone else too from the terror of youth and perfection, is a sentence that has stayed in my head, and i can say that it almost influences every single image i create, be it while shooting, be it while editing it. The world today, especially on social media, is so fake. When i say fake, i mean it is un-real and i am not saying whether the edit is good or bad, cos that is always a personal perspective. But fake means, it is getting further and further away from reality. And this is because everyone wants to be perfect, almost liking wanting to fit into a template of spotless, lifeless, poreless, scarless skin, dead straight square jaws, and a perfect body. This perfection is almost making them all the same and the scary part of all this is that an entire generation is feeding off these images and assuming that is how life is, perfect. is it??
